White shows his darker side?
There is a lawsuit against Todd White. That’s right. He’s the artist who created Spongebob Square Pants.
And my in-laws are huge admirers of his because of his amazing talent to create beautiful oil works like these.
According to the New York Times, Margaret Howell, the owner of the HB Gallery at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach, CA is suing him. She alleges that he brought four of his bodyguards to her gallery on the night of August 2 to physically threaten her and force her to consent to returning all of his work. They then stole every piece of his art in her possession and other important documents.

I’m a little shocked. But what made my jaw drop is that my in-laws were there. I heard the story last night over some sushi and a bottle of wine.
They’ve lived in Huntington Beach, CA for a few years now and sometime last year, they purchased two large limited prints by White at the Gallery HB right there in the Hyatt Regency. They visit regularly to chat with Margaret, who goes by Peggy, and view any new Todd White pieces.
On August 2, they went to dinner at the Hyatt then stopped by to say hi to Peggy at the gallery. Inside, there were several large men, and no White art on the walls. One of the men was standing at the door to turn people away. When he told my mother-in-law that the gallery was closed, she asked for Peggy. When she came out of a back room, Peggy told her that they were moving some things around, and she should come back later.
Are they still fans? Of course. They have his gorgeous art decorating their home, as you can see below. But we’re all curious where the lawsuit is headed! What gives, Todd?
