Mr. Dylan, I’m ashamed.
While waking up with a strong cup of coffee this morning, I read that Bob Dylan’s new showing at the Gagosian Gallery is apparently full of copies. It would be one thing if he showed the original photo and attributed it to the artist, then showed his own renditions of the work. But it’s quite another to show copied work and then say in the exhibition catalog,
“I paint mostly from real life. It has to start with that. Real people, real street scenes, behind the curtain scenes, live models, paintings, photographs, staged setups, architecture, grids, graphic design.” Really, Bob?
